About Me

Hello, I’m Lynda. I was born in Lanark but raised, partly, in Australia. I now live in Fife, on the east coast of Scotland.

I studied Media & Communications, followed by Media with Public Relations before cutting my teeth on my first PR job. My media and communications career now spans more than two decades.

From PR, I went on to work in the publications division of Scotland’s leading PR consultancy (The Big Partnership) – heading up the BT, ExxonMobil, Scottish Ambulance Service, and Scottish Prison Service accounts and writing for many more (including Forth Ports, Keuhne + Nagel, NHS Fife, Fife Council, and Fife Constabulary).

From there, I joined DC Thomson as a magazine journalist on My Weekly. While primarily real life editor, my remit also extended to health, lifestyle, celebrity, and travel. I then took a year out travel writing and have been freelance ever since.

While freelancing, I took on the two-year role of Business Editor at The Business Journal and have worked with many PR clients across a diverse range of sectors, from recruitment, tech and serviced offices to children’s goods, fitness studios, and herbal medicine.

My clients have featured in newspapers, magazines and on TV and radio.

I have also taken on various temporary contracts over the years, including as a press officer for Fife Cultural Trust.

I then went on to found online magazine Scotland B2B – a business title for start-ups and SMEs trading in the east coast of Scotland.

I wound the business up in 2018 to launch a print health and wellbeing publication which ran for three years until Covid made it very difficult to generate revenue.

One of the highlights of my career so far has been helping to write and edit the ACT2Care Suicide Risk Prevention Strategy on behalf of the Scottish Prison Service. Sadly, I have lost two people to suicide and nearly a third. I’m extremely passionate about mental health. This document has helped to pave the way for the SPS suicide prevention strategy as it stands today.

My other passion is, of course, travel and I have penned destination features for My Weekly, The Scots Magazine, Positive Health, and Yoga & Health. I have also written travel content for a number of US holiday websites, as well as platforms such as MyTravelMoney.co.uk and easyJet, along with many other media, including holiday and honeymoon brochures.

I continue to review trips for my own titles and now edit the website travellingfromscotland.uk.

When I’m not writing, I’m a busy mum of four. I’m invested in natural health and try to live as ‘low-tox’ as possible. I’m also a huge nature lover and fan of all things vintage.

You can find more of my work at Only Natural.
